PINK—a color synonymous with love, romance, and femininity. Yet, in the world of diamonds, it transforms into something far more extraordinary. The mesmerizing natural pink diamonds, particularly the legendary Argyle Pink™ Diamonds, are not just gems; they are treasures that defy rarity and captivate the imagination, weaving a story of wonder and luxury that is unmatched.
Let’s rewind two years. His life changed the moment he laid eyes on her. She was different—like a rare diamond formed by the most unique alignment of atoms. Though she wore black, her energy was vibrant, with a radiance that seemed to glow from within. In that instant, he knew she was ‘the one’—as precious and unique as the finest diamond that you only come across once.
"I want to marry you," he confessed lovingly as he held her tightly.
From the beginning, he knew their love was anything but ordinary. She was as extraordinary as the love they shared, and his token of commitment had to reflect that.
“Pink diamonds,” he thought. Only Argyle Pink™ Diamonds would do.
But why choose Argyle Pink™ Diamonds? The first time I held an Argyle Pink™ Diamond up to my matte black magnification loupe, I was mesmerized. Its hue was unlike anything else—an exquisite pink that seemed almost surreal. As I carefully positioned it in my gem holder, its beauty consumed me. How could something so breathtaking form beneath the Earth’s surface? The answer remains as mysterious and captivating as a love story unfolding.
To understand the significance of these extraordinary stones, one must look to their source: the Argyle Diamond Mine, located in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. A geological marvel, the mine was the birthplace of some of nature’s rarest diamonds—particularly, natural-colored diamonds. The diamond colors ranged from white, yellow, brown, blue, violet, to the highly sought-after red and pink diamonds. For pink diamonds specifically, 90% of the world’s supply came from this iconic mine. Even then, less than 0.1% of the total diamonds mined there were pink, making them exceptionally rare.
What sets an Argyle Pink™ Diamond apart is its unique and rich color, which is often unrivaled. The Argyle Mine produced a stunning range of hues, from light pink to the rarest and most coveted fancy vivid pink. The more intense the color is, the rarer and more valuable the diamond becomes.
Because these diamonds are so unique, a distinctive grading system was created which largely determines the value of each Argyle Pink™ Diamond. The hue and saturation of the diamond are two key factors. The hue, or dominant color, is graded on a scale ranging from pink champagne to purplish pink. The saturation, or intensity of the hue, is graded from one to nine, with one representing the most intense color and nine being the least intense. Even slight shifts in these characteristics—combined with the diamond’s cut, clarity, and carat weight—can result in significant differences in price. The scarcity of these diamonds, combined with their iconic color and unique characteristics, has made them a sought-after commodity in the jewelry and auction markets, fetching high prices.
Since the 1980s, the Argyle Mine has been the world’s primary source of these incomparable colored gems. But when production ceased in 2020 and the mine prepared for closure, so did access to these treasures. Now, each Argyle Pink™ Diamond is not only a symbol of unparalleled beauty but also a piece of history—an irreplaceable treasure with no future supply. To own an Argyle Pink™ Diamond is to possess a priceless work of art, one sculpted brilliantly beneath the earth’s surface.
On December 28th, 2024, the stage was set for a moment as rare and extraordinary as the diamonds themselves. Beneath the soaring architecture of the stark white Santiago Calatrava building, he stood, his hands trembling slightly as he pulled a small black box from his coat pocket.
“Will you marry me?” he asked, his voice steady despite the emotions rushing through him.
“Yes,” she answered, a smile lighting up her face.
As he slipped the ring—set with Argyle Pink™ Diamonds—onto her delicate finger, it sparkled with the same rare beauty as their love. Pink—the only color that could capture the essence of a love this unique, this precious.
